I Love My Garage!

~ fabulous driver! ~
Back in February, so much has happened since then! my pre-made garage was delivered. It was made by Mennonite folks down in Statesville, NC, Old Hickory Buildings, and it's been a gem! It's gone through some changes, for the better, and yesterday, Daniel and his brother David, came up and gave me some additional help. Farmer John has a dump truck and, a few months ago, he and I went across the mountain where I purchased several tons of gravel for the driveway. Eventually, more gravel will be purchased to fill in the empty spots and make it less muddy to walk from garage and driveway to the house.
The garage was turned from facing down the driveway to facing the driveway. When I approach the building, I come up the driveway and turn right, into the garage. WOOHOO! It may not seem like much to you but, trust me, it's been doings around here! The dual lights are dusk to dawn...lovely...and Sam P. Spade, Secret Agent, approves...very important!
I've spent a considerable amount of time, putting things to order and...should I be ashamed to admit, my garage is in better organized shape than the house?
Fiddle dee dee!
No, the building isn't listing but I was so excited and didn't take good care when taking the photo. My apologies. The shepherd's hook pumpkin is to let me know when I can, safely, turn toward, or away from, the garage. I'd hate to run into the concrete block wall and damage my vehicle. A garage was something on the "to-do" list Dave and I were constantly amending. Unfortunately, prior to his death, we never got around to it, but having it now is lovely, warm, dry and safe. My tools have a home, the car is put to bed every night, there's light enough for the garage, driveway and walk to the house. It may seem like a little thing but it's a huge thing...and I am so grateful!

Today's Miracles ~ perfect weather ~ I sat out a huge round bale of hay, safely ~ dogs and cats enjoyed the day as I did chores ~ simple pleasures ~ sweet, cold water ~ Daniel ~ David ~ John ~

Hello Sandra:
We have to confess that we have never been quite so excited about a garage. But, then, we have never even be remotely excited about a car either. However, we can well see that this seemingly small addition to your life makes a big difference and we are happy for you for that!Sometimes it is these insignificant changes that really do add to the quality of one's everyday living. Enjoy your garage and may all your turns and travels be safe!

Is THAT the house? How pretty! It's big!

We were garage-less for the few few years after building our house. I remember how wonderful it was when we finally built our garage and I could pull my car in. Now more scraping ice and snow in the winter! Woohoo!

Big improvement and delighted Sam Spade approves - it isn't always about having to make HUGE changes in our lives but the small comforts - thanks for sharing

Oh, to me that would be a VERY big thing indeed! Congratulations! It's always lovely to be able to dust your hands off and say, "There!" and then to enjoy the product of your labors every time you look at it.
And I'm only a little embarrassed to admit that I enjoy tidying up my workshop and goatshed far more than cleaning my house!

I did not know that you could order a ready-made garage like that. It's very cool!

Little things are huge things when they are something we deal with every day.

I'm so happy for your happiness in your new garage. A big accomplishment. Also, when I read your Sabbath page I new it was another one I had to print out. The first quote by C.S. Lewis was a clue that this was one subject I was familiar with. Still so tempting to try to tell God exactly how I want my prayers answered, in my way and in my time. Thank God for his mercy.

Beautiful, dear!! I think it looks very nice off to the side like that. Good job! I'm so glad you explained about the photo ... I was thinking, "Oh NO!!! She put the garage in crooked!" heehee

It's a beautiful structure and so neat that it was crafted by Mennonites! Enjoy. :)

Looking good. Oh, my yes, a garage is a good thing. All the years we lived in snow country, our car slept out in the weather. Now that we live in sunny CA, it snuggles in the garage. Go figure. I'm glad you have the cute new garage complete with its own pumpkin. Your car thanks you, too!

I like your garage! We have one one attached and what a lifesaver it is especially when it's cold, snowy, rainy, windy or HOT! You'll love it for years.

This could be a wonderful stable, too, for example for my sheep :)

Sandra, I have been pricing a carport, for Renee's car so she doesn't have to scrape the snow.
A builder came an price it at $10,000
There are no doors or windows or sides just a roof. I think that was a rip off. How about you..

This is a great garage.

Cool beans! I love it! We need another garage / carport but we have so many bugs, especially carpenter bees, that all our outbuildings have to be metal. Congrats! ~:)

What a blessing! Anything that adds to the safe, secure, and able-to-sleep-better-at-night feeling is a good thing. :)

And I know I was already a follower of your blog but had to re-follow again today. Blogger seems haywire lately. Anyway, glad to realize it and see this update from you. :)

Sweet! And you should be excited about it.

No worries about the garage being better organized than your house. My barn is a joy to clean and spend time dinking around in. The house is second to it tho ;-0

Ha, I'm glad you told us that it wasn't leaning. I was a bit concerned.

It looks great! I'm so happy for!
