Sabbath Keeping

~ Katie and Daddy, her new FIL ~
"And Adam said, This is now bone of my bones, and flesh of my flesh: she shall be called Woman, because she was taken out of Man. Therefore shall a man leave his father and his mother, and shall cleave unto his wife:
and they shall be one flesh."

"The Supreme Court of the United States has ruled today that same-sex marriage is legal in all 50 states. With all dues respect to the court, it did not define marriage, and therefore is not entitled to re-define it.
Long before our government came into existence, marriage was created by the One who created man and woman - Almighty God - and His decisions are not subject to review or revision by any manmade court. God is clear about the definition of marriage in His Holy Word: "Therefore a man shall leave his father and his mother and hold fast to his wife, and they shall become one flesh" (Genesis 2:24).
I pray God will spare America from His judgment, though, by our actions as a nation, we give Him less and less reason to do so."   ~ Franklin Graham ~
"No woman wants to be in submission to a man who isn't in submission to God."  ~ T. D. Jakes ~

"If I get married,
I want to be very married."

"The older I get, the less time I want to spend with the part of the human race that didn't marry me." ~ Robert Brault ~
"The best time to love with your whole heart is always now, in this moment, because no breath beyond the current is promised." ~ Fawn Weaver ~
"The first to apologize is the bravest.
The first to forgive is the strongest.
The first to forget is the happiest."
~ unknown
"A happy marriage is the union of two good forgivers."
~ Ruth Bell Graham ~
"Once we figured out that we could not change each other,
we became free to celebrate ourselves as we are."
~ H. Dean Rutherford in a letter to his wife on their 59th wedding anniversary ~
"Coming together is a beginning;
keeping together is progress;
working together is success."
~ Henry Ford ~
"Love is an ideal thing; marriage a real thing."
~ Goethe ~
"Marriage doesn't make you happy -
you make your marriage happy.
~ Drs. Les and Leslie Parrott
"There is no greater happiness for a man than approaching a door at the end of a day knowing someone on the other side of that door is waiting for the sound of his footsteps."
~ Ronald Reagan ~
"There is no greater risk than matrimony.
But there is nothing happier than a happy marriage."
~ Benjamin Disraeli ~
"Your priorities aren't what you SAY they are.
They are revealed by how you live.
What does your life say
about the value of your family and marriage?"

"And He answered and said unto them, "Have you not read that He who made them at the beginning 'made them male and female,' and said, "For this reason a man shall leave his father and mother and be joined to his wife, and the two shall become one flesh"?
So then, they are no longer two but one flesh.
Therefore what God has joined together,
let not man separate."

Prayer Keeping ~ the five misguided Supreme Court justices who dared spit in God's face; God will not be mocked ~ marriage ~ man and woman ~ husband and wife ~ Bible ~

  1. I often think, Sandra, that at any given time in recent memory, that one half of the citizens of our country are unrepresented in our government. The presidential race is always so close now that roughly half of us have NO voice at all. There are 300,000,000 of us and 150 million go unrepresented by the President of the United States. How does this happen? I love Lindsey Graham and Donald Trump, and if Jeb Bush gets the nomination I will campaign for him.
    The Lord knows we need sanity in government and not personal agendas, which is what we have now. To me, we have a Semi-Terrorist sitting in 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue, Washington, DC. He is mis-shaping American values to suit his views, which are that the government takes care of everyone, like ObamaCare, and after the government has gotten it's hands in everything we will be a nation of sheep. People without any power to do as they please, but do only what the government allows. You know what I mean. Same-Sex marriage? Caitlyn Jenner? Where do all these oddballs come from? And, WHY do all of us have to accept it as "normal." I don't mind people being "gay." I just don't like that they believe they should have rights everyone else doesn't have. One of them was ringing up a Rx for me recently and got so vexed he threw his hands up in the air and said, "I'm done with you. I'm not waiting on you any longer." I think he still has his job.

  2. I must admit that I came here earlier and wasn't brave enough to comment on this issue. Coming back now, Sandra, to say that I understand and believe everything you've written above and yet I'm torn by the events of this week as I have dear friends who are gay, delightful kind men. And they're so happy with this. It's hard for me to write this, to risk being judged for this, and yet how could I come back again to your insightful Sabbath Keeping posts if I didn't admit that I feel torn by this?

    My brother-in-law sent a YouTube link to the family today of their church, First Baptist Orlando, message after this Supreme Court decision. One of the pastors spoke of their disappointment with the decision but said they urged kindness and gentle words, and to have faith that God would bring about good even from this.

    With love,
    Dewena

  3. This was good Sandra. Marriage is a wonderful gift for a man and woman, created by God, to be a light to the world of His love and tender mercies.

    It is a sad event that has happened, but God works all things out. He sees what is going on and He works through all events, good and bad, for our good and His honor and glory.

    I am not for gay marriages, I have had a few gay friends through the years, but while I don't agree with their life style, they are part of God's creation, and like Dewena's pastors urged their congregation, we need to be kind with gentle words, knowing God will bring good even out of this. God is sovereign!

    I pray for God's mercy on this country. It is not 'in God we trust' anymore, but 'in man and the almighty dollar we trust'. We are losing our freedoms, steadily. The only true freedom we have is in Jesus, and His grace for us.

  6. My daughter and I were talking this over. She wasn't sure how to respond to friends who are putting rainbows all over their Facebook pages. She got ranted on by some. I haven't prepared her well scripturally I must confess. I gave her a list of scriptures about God's view on the subject, but also told her that gays aren't the enemy. Satan is the enemy who is blinding them to God's love. I told her if she isn't prepared to respond directly to people then pray for them that the Holy Spirit would open their eyes to the Truth. I told her she needs to get into the Word and learn so she can teach her little girls. I repented for not giving her more in-depth teaching and leaving too much to AWANA and Sunday School! We need to love God and love people. We also need to dig into the Word so we have some truth to share with them if the opportunity presents itself. Good word, Sandra!

  8. For what it is worth, my opinion is that a union between two gay people is not a proper marriage and should be called something different. I do believe though that they should have the same legal rights regarding the sharing of a legacy after death or permission to be 'next of kin' in a hospital situation.
    I don't want rainbows plastered all over the place either, thank you.

  11. I agree, Sandra. And I'm afraid this is going to be a mess for a long while, with all the ramifications. I do think this is an opportunity for the church, to respond Biblically and in truth and love. And the persecution that we all will be facing might, frankly, serve to wake us up, and draw us closer to Jesus.
