"Then came the daughters of Zelophehad, the son of Hepher, the son of Gilead, the son of Machir, the son of Manasseh, of the families of Manasseh the son of Joseph: and these are the names of his daughters: Mahlah, Noah, and Hoglah, and Milcah, and Tirzah.
And they stood before Moses, and before Eleazar the priest, and before the princes and all the congregation, by the door of the tabernacle of the congregation, saying, "Our father died in the wilderness and he was not in the company of Korah; bu died in his own sin, and had no sons. Why should the name of our father be done away from among his family because he hath no son? Give unto us therefore a possession among the brethren of our father.
And Moses brought their cause before the LORD.
And the LORD spake unto Moses saying, "The daughters of Zelophehad speak right: thou shalt surely give them a possession of an inheritance among their father's brethren; and thou shalt cause the inheritance of their father to pass unto them. And thou shalt speak unto the children of Israel saying, "If a man die, and have no son, then ye shall cause his inheritance to pass unto his daughter."

"Man finds it hard to get what he wants because he does not want the best. God finds it hard to give because He
would give the best and man will not take it."

"Praying, we usually ask too much. I know I do. Sometimes we even demand. I think I am learning to ask enough for the moment--not for the whole year, utterly veiled in mystery; not even for the week, the month ahead; but just for today.
Jesus said it all when He told us to pray: 'Give us this day our daily bread.'
That bread is not only material, it is spiritual; in asking for it, we ask for a sufficiency of strength, courage, hope and light. Enough courage for the step ahead--not for the further miles. Enough strength for the immediate task or ordeal. Enough material gain to enable us to meet our daily obligations. Enough light to see the path--right before our feet." ~ Faith Baldwin ~
"What a friend we have in Jesus, all our sins and griefs to bear. What a privilege to carry everything to God in prayer." ~ Joseph Scriven ~
"And even when you ask, you don't get it
because your motives are all wrong--
you want only what will give you pleasure."

(The first Bible verse has always amazed and given me courage. Five sisters, changed the course of history when they approached Moses and asked, "Why...? Prior to their question, only males inherited and, to be sure, heads turned, mouths dropped open, vile mutterings were heard and all because those courageous five sisters asked, "Why...". May we all be so courageous when we approach God and ask with pure motives.)
