We grieve as those who have hope. Hope of seeing our loved ones again, hope of healing from pain and grief. The passage of time does not ease the loss; we just grow to a different normal. I am praying for you and your loved ones in the days ahead. I know you will find comfort and courage to carry on.

Dear Sandra, this is my first visit to your blog and I am deeply sorry for your loss. I know what you are experiencing. My son was killed in Iraq on June 13th of this year. I know that he is alive and well as he has visited ( and continues to visit his daughter, brother Matt, myself and others ) us through many ways. Just this weekend Matt was watching the LSU/Alabama game and he could smell Nicky's cologne in his room ( Nicky was a huge LSU fan ). While it brings us some comfort to know that he is still around there are days and nights of excrutiating pain at the thought of not seeing him, holding him and fixing his favorite meal of chicken curry and watching him lovingly raise his daughter Eva.
I know that there will be moments that your Dave will come to you and family to let you know that he is there for you through all eternity.
It is only time that seperates us from each other.
    My heart is with you.......

    Jamie
