Christmas Lunar Eclipse 2010

 ~ blood moon ~

If you weren't awake around 2 or 3 a.m. EST this morning, you missed the Christmas Lunar Eclipse. I almost missed it but God woke me at 2:22...love the symmetry, don't you?...and after a mild "oh yeah, I'm sure it's wonderful" and a roll over, He said, "are you sure? I've not done this since 1638 and you'll be long dead when I do it again." Now, in the light of morning, I'm ashamed to say I didn't plant my feet on the floor when my eyes first sprung open.
~ a gift ~
You're quite right, it is a trifle blurry but I used a hand held point and shoot camera held, somewhat, still for a full second, perhaps longer and through a window. It's good enough to be an excellent memory aid and I'm so delighted I got up to see this celestial event and to take a few photos. Just wish it'd been on the farm, with the dogs snuffling around as they were first excited to be walking around at such an hour and then begging to go back inside because they were cold.

Have I mentioned I am so homesick? I was homesick when we turned out of the driveway.

  2. Good Morning Sandra Sweetie...
Oh we got up and ran to look, however we were cloudy and all that we saw was a somewhat colored sky, nothing more. Moon was covered. What an awesome site. Thank you for sharing. I was truly disappointed we didn't get to see.

Hugs for the homesickness. I am too. All of my family is in Oklahoma. There's no place like home. Let your heart carry you there in spirit.

Many hugs and so much love, Sherry

  3. What a good picture! Had it not been so cloudy, cold and late here I might have tried to see it myself. But I was happily falling asleep in bed and I believe it was still raining at that point. But now I have a wonderful picture to look at. Thank you! Hope you are all settling well. Merry Christmas!

  4. Your picture is great, even if it is a trifle blurry. Here in England, we could look and see it at 7 a.m. but unfortunately, it was too cloudy so I didn't get to see it at all.
    Well done you.

    Merry Christmas.

I understand your homesickness. I live with it all the time. When I am in England, I am homesick for Tennessee and when in Tennessee, I am homesick for England.

I miss home too, when I am away! I never do well being gone~far away from my *kids*! That is how I will feel as head out on Thursday.
Take comfort in knowing your time spent away is to be able to gather future time. It *will be* I know, I feel it in my heart!
And please take comfort in knowing how many souls are keeping you both in constant prayer.

  9. I am so glad you took that picture because now I don't feel so bad I missed it. I mean if this one hasn't been around since 1638. I am praying for you and your last little bit about being homesick as you drove out of the driveway just caught in my throat. I have done that so many times. I will continue to pray for you.

I hope that God will send you a present every single day. I bet He will.

  12. I missed it too, not because of not being awake but because of many layers of rain clouds over Mendocino county.

Just remember - "home is where the heart is". God bless.

Sister Sandra, we've had so much rain here in Southern California over the past week at times I couldn't even see across the street! Thanks for the great photos! I was hoping the moon was still in the sky :-)

I pray that you and your family have a Wonderful Christmas :-)

    God Bless You, ~Ron
