National Day of Prayer

"Heavenly Father,
we come before you today to ask your forgiveness and
to seek your direction and guidance.
We know Your Word says, "Woe to those who call evil good,"
but that is exactly what we have done.
We have lost spiritual equilibrium
and reversed our values.
We have exploited the poor
and called it the lottery.
We have rewarded laziness
and called it welfare.
We have killed our unborn
and called it choice.
We have shot abortionists
and called it justifiable.
We have neglected to discipline our children
and called it building self esteem.
We have abused power
and called it politics.
We have coveted our neighbor's possessions
and called it ambition.
We have polluted the air with profanity and pornography
and called it freedom of expression.
We have ridiculed the time-honored values of our forefathers
and called it enlightenment.
Search us, Oh God, and know our hearts today;
cleanse us from sin and set us free.

Amen."

  1. I'm afraid that some people would read this prayer and call it harsh. I do know that Rev. Graham speaks only from love of God and of his desire for people to know the Lord Jesus Christ.

    Amen, Sandra!
And your previous post is so wonderfully wise and transparent, too.
Thank you so much for sharing your heart. It always blesses me!

  3. Dewena, probably but do they read their Bibles? Do they even have Bibles? Do they know Pastor Graham's prayer is ENTIRELY based on the Bible, God's Holy Word? Why a Christian can believe in abortion is something they'll have to answer to God at judgement day. The Bible is so clear on all the topics of life yet humans persist in disobedience...their will, their thoughts, their way.

    Sparky, amen indeed.

Carol, thank you for letting me know; your kind comments encourages me.

    Sheri, amen, yes!

  8. Mildred, praying you and John enjoy your new home.

    Andie, we're in agreement.

Sara, we do, how we do need God! If Godly people allow un-Godly people to lead us to perdition, how will we stand before the Almighty on Judgement Day?

Charlotte, please do and give Pastor Graham credit.
