Dear Abba, please bless Pope Francis I. Give him Your strength to do the job You have set before him. Please allow the wind to be at his back and his face toward the Son. Give him peace, joy, patience, humility, wisdom, mercy, discernment, and love in abundance. Allow him to be long suffering and full of Your grace. Father, keep him a man after Your own heart; a man who will stand in the gap for those least among us - the unborn, the unloved, the poor. Let him stand for Your Word in a world where everyone does what is right in their own eyes. Let him be secure in the knowledge he was born for such a time as this and he is Pope only because You allowed. Lord, let us remember to lift him in prayer, to keep him ever before you as he strives to bring Christ and the Gospel story to a hurting and lost world. Let his ego be small and his heart large; keep him humble as he focuses on eternity while addressing the needs of today. In the name of Jesus and for His sake, Amen.
