Sabbath Keeping

"Where there is no vision the people perish."
~ Proverbs 29:18 ~

"I pray for you, that all your misgivings will be melted to thanksgivings. Remember that the shadow a thing casts often far exceeds the size of the thing itself (especially if the light be low on the horizon) and though some future fear may strut brave darkness as you approach, the thing itself will be but a speck when seen from beyond. Oh that He would restore us often with that 'aspect from beyond,' to see a thing as He sees it, to remember that He dealeth with us as with sons." ~ Jim Elliot ~

"One of the most tragic things I know bout human nature is that all of us tend to put off living. We are all dreaming of some magical rose garden over the horizon-instead of enjoying the roses that (bloom) outside our windows today."
~ Dale Carnegie ~

"The only thing worse than being blind is having sight but no vision."
~ Helen Keller ~
"Those who look behind
will never see beyond."
~ Sherry K. White

"I'm most proud of the blessings God has given me, in my life. He's given me the vision to truly see that you can fall down, but you can still get back up. Hopefully, I'll learn from my mistakes and have the opportunity to strengthen and improve the next thing I do." ~ Martin Lawrence ~

"The visionary lies to himself,
the liar only to others."
~ Nietzsche ~

"Not all dreamers are winners, but all winners are dreamers. Your dream is the key to your future. The Bible says that, "without a vision (dream), a people perish." You need a dream, if you're going to succeed in anything you do."
~ Mark Gorman ~
"We can only see a short distance ahead,
but we can see plenty there that needs to be done."
~ Alan Turing ~

"If the doors of perception were cleansed,
everything would appear to man as it is - infinite."
William  Blake

"Nothing is more imminent than the impossible...
what we must always foresee is the unforeseen."
~ Victor Hugo ~

"Our vision is so limited we can hardly imagine a love that does not show itself in protection from suffering. The love of God is of a different nature altogether. It does not hate tragedy. It never denies reality. It stands in the very teeth of suffering. The love of God did not protect His own Son. The cross was the proof of His love - that He gave that Son, that He let Him go to Calvary's cross, though "legions of angels" might have rescued Him. He will not necessarily protect us - not from anything it takes to make us like His Son. A lot of hammering and chiseling and purifying by fire will have to go into the process."
~ Elizabeth Elliott ~

"And it shall come to pass in the last days, saith God, I will pour out of my Spirit upon all flesh; and your sons and daughters shall prophesy, and your young men shall see visions, and your old men shall dream dreams."
~ Acts 2:17

  1. This is the one that speaks to me right now: "We can only see a short distance ahead, but we can see plenty there that needs to be done."

Thank you, Sandra. I was just sitting down at the computer and thinking how it was Sunday, and I remembered, "Sandra probably has published her Sabbath Keeping post" and I came here....blessed by how I can count on you for some pearls of wisdom and inspiration. <3

  6. Excellent collection of quotes, as always. I hope that some warmer weather has now arrived in VA. Daffodils are starting to bloom here. Daylily greens are poking through the earth. Spring is around the bend! Thank you for your continued prayers. Have a bad day (another) with service companies (who specialize in bad service).
