"In the beginning God created..."
~ Genesis 1 ~
"Life has no remote,
so wake up and change it."
~ Sushil Singh ~
"I think in terms of the day's resolutions, not the year's." ~ Henry Moore ~

ridiculous to live in the future
and impossible to live in the past.
Nothing is as far away as one minute ago."
~ Jim Bishop ~
"One resolution I have made, and try always to keep is this - to rise above the little things." ~ John Burroughs ~
"You are never too old to set a new goal or to dream a new dream."
~ C. S. Lewis ~
"I made no resolutions for the New Year. The habit of making plans, of criticizing, sanctioning and molding my life, is too much of a daily event for me."
~ Anais Nin ~
"To dress up today in the threadbare garments of yesterday is to create an
impoverished tomorrow." ~ Craig D. Lounsbrough ~

"I hope that in this year to come, you make mistakes. Because if you are making mistakes, then you are making new things, trying new things, learning, living, pushing yourself, changing yourself, changing your world. You're doing things you've never done before, and more importantly, you're Doing Something. So that's my wish for you, and all of us, and my wish for myself. Make New Mistakes. Make glorious, amazing mistakes. Make mistakes nobody's ever made before. Don't freeze, don't stop, don't worry that it isn't good enough, or it isn't perfect, whatever it is: art, or love, or work or family or life. Whatever it is you're scared of doing, Do it. Make your mistakes, next year and forever." ~ Neil Gaiman ~
"New Year's Day is every man's birthday." ~ Charles Lamb ~

~ C. S. Lewis ~
"Therefore do not worry about tomorrow,
for tomorrow will worry about itself.
Each day has enough trouble of its own."
~ Matthew 6:34 ~
Please pray ~ praying is a conversation with God. PRAY daily - Praise Him for His many blessings to you and yours; Repent of your shortcomings; Ask for those things that will help you serve Him better, that you want or need; Yield to His spirit as you listen for His quiet whisper.
Another way to remember is ACT - Ask, Confess, Thankfulness. ~
Once again, Mr Emerson's words ring true to me. Do you think it's something in the water up here in MA?
ReplyDeleteWishing you all the best, Sandra :)
Happy New Year, dear Sandra. The sign in front of the church is a telling one. Just as I am. Thank you for the quotes you post on Sundays. Have a cozy evening. ♥
ReplyDeleteI really like these quotes, Sandra! Each one pithy and inspirational. But as ever, it is C.S. Lewis' that make me so happy. I always feel that he "gets me." Isn't that funny? Maybe it's just that he reaches me in a way few do.
ReplyDeleteA blessed and happy New Year to you, Sandra,
Dewena
Inspiring quotes to start the new year. May it be a blessed one for us all.
ReplyDeleteYes, CS Lewis sums it up, as always. You posted some beautiful words. Thank you.

Happy New Year Sandra . . .
excellent quotes as usual, Sandra. No resolutions here - starting the year with my usual hope for salvation for those yet unsaved and improvement in my walk with Jesus. Oh and gratitude for the chances another day. year or moment gives me - from zip lining in Costa Rica to baking a birthday cake for a friend - it is ALL an adventure
ReplyDeleteHi Sandra, Happy New Year my friend. Always love the quotes here and these are perfect to start off the new year. Blessings to you in 2017! xo
ReplyDeleteI like Henry Moore's words - they remind me not to wait until the end of 2017 to review my life. If I can't do it minute-by-minute, I ought at least at the end of each day to bring its events, intentions and the failures to the Lord in prayer. "Today is the day of salvation."
ReplyDeleteThank you, Sandra!
Great collection! I have several big favourites!
ReplyDeleteBlessed new year from Dori from the Bavarian Forest!
