Bless Pope Francis I

~ borrowed photo ~
Dear Abba, please bless Pope Francis I. Give him Your strength to do the job You have set before him. Please allow the wind to be at his back and his face toward the Son. Give him peace, joy, patience, humility, wisdom, mercy, discernment, and love in abundance. Allow him to be long suffering and full of Your grace. Father, keep him a man after Your own heart; a man who will stand in the gap for those least among us - the unborn, the unloved, the poor. Let him stand for Your Word in a world where everyone does what is right in their own eyes. Let him be secure in the knowledge he was born for such a time as this and he is Pope only because You allowed. Lord, let us remember to lift him in prayer, to keep him ever before you as he strives to bring Christ and the Gospel story to a hurting and lost world. Let his ego be small and his heart large; keep him humble as he focuses on eternity while addressing the needs of today. In the name of Jesus and for His sake, Amen.

I am not Catholic, but praying for a man of God is always a good thing. Please remember Pope Francis I in your prayers; in this dark and wicked world, he needs us to stand in the gap for him.

  3. he appears to be a humble and servant heart - goodness knows all Christian churches need such leaders - perhaps he is a man for such a time as this?

  8. I think he will be a lesson to all of us, focusing on things of importance like the innate goodness of humankind. Beautiful, Sandra.

  9. Your prayer is so powerful; I felt it deeply while reading it. I too am not Catholic but as I watched him come out on the balcony and speak to the crowd and pray I felt that he truly was chosen for such a time as this. I loved his humility and friendliness to the crowd and that he made it clear he wanted prayer for the job he had ahead.

  10. I too am not Catholic, and I too have added the Pope to my prayer list. He has a rough road to go down with all that has happened to the Catholic church this past year. We have to believe that he was picked to do a great job. He has my prayers.

  12. Patrice, we are in agreement.

Dori, we need to pray for him; he's standing for truth in a world that wants lies.

    Gail, let's pray together.

LindaSue, I surely pray he's a man for these dark times.

    Pom, thank you.

    Debbie, yes to amen.

    Diana, amen to that!

Lea, he needs our prayers and this world needs Jesus.

    Gretchen, you're welcome.

Marsha, I believe we're born into sin and there's little to no innate goodness in humans. It's only through Christ we are good but we are wise to pray for this man of God.

Dewena, God has allowed him to attain this high position; let's pray he keeps focused on God and bring the salvation story of Christ to the world.

Shiralyn, my mother always told me, "he needs the prayers and we need the practice" -grin-...whoever "he" or "she" was at the time. Praying is a very good thing.

    Quinn, amen indeed!

Lea, it was a good Sabbath, thank you for your blessing.

  13. Sandra- I wish him well-- he has a huge task ahead of him to repair the church and it's reputation. I feel he is the right person to do this-- he seems very humble. I think I like him--

  14. Vicki, I think I like him as well; sure, he has a history but don't we all. I am positive God has allowed him to be the man for the position now.
