Sabbath Keeping

"But they that wait upon the LORD shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint."

"Seeing that a Pilot steers the ship in which we sail, who will never allow us to perish even in the midst of shipwrecks, there is no reason why our minds should be overwhelmed with fear and overcome with weariness." ~ John Calvin ~
"Exercise is labor without weariness."
"The goal of every culture is to decay through over-civilization; the factors of decadence, luxury, skepticism, weariness and superstition, are constant. The civilization of one epoch becomes the manure of the next." ~ Cyril Connolly
"When you face the perils of weariness, carelessness, and confusion, don't pray for an easier life. Pray instead to be a stronger man or woman of God." ~ Luis Palau
"When the morning's freshness has been replaced by the weariness of midday, when the leg muscles give under the strain, the climb seems endless, and suddenly nothing will go quite as you wish-it is then that you must not hesitate." ~ Dag Hammarskjold ~
"Our labour preserves us from three great evils --
weariness, vice, and want."
"It is good to be tired and wearied by the futile search after the true good, that we may stretch out our arms to the Redeemer." ~ Blaise Pascal ~
"The world is weary of statesmen
whom democracy has degraded into politicians."
"I would go to the deeps a hundred times to cheer a downcast spirit. It is good for me to have been afflicted, that I might know how to speak a word in season to one that is weary."
~ Charles H. Spurgeon
"This country, with its institutions, belongs to the people who inhabit it. Whenever they shall grow weary of the existing government, they can exercise their constitutional right of amending it, or exercise their revolutionary right to overthrow it." ~ Abraham Lincoln

"Come to me all you who are weary and burdened and I will give you rest."
~ Jesus Christ, Matthew 11:28 ~

  1. Good Morning. I love the Matthew 11:28 verse. Cool enough to have our windows open this a.m. Nice while it lasts! God bless you, Sandra.

  2. Oh dear, Sandra - does the focus on weariness mean you are feeling as worn out as I am? The idea of running without growing weary - or, in my case, running at all! - is beautiful, isn't it?
The Lincoln article is fascinating - thank you for providing the link.

  4. Blessings to you.
Summer heat has arrived here in my neck of the woods.
Looking forward to this week! May you have a super one.

I really like the first scripture verse that you have shared.

It encourages me that waiting on the Lord will bear blessed things and I need all the blessings I can get!

Also stretching out our arms to the redeemer!!! Love it.

Like the Lincoln quote - may be time for some upheaval in the status quo - viable third party anyone?

  6. The first Bible verse and the last are favorites of mine and of course the Dag Hammarskjold caught my eye especially. Great encouragement there to me as I'm trying to focus on physical and spiritual health this month, and not give in to the fact that I turned 70 and have some health problems.

    Thank you!
