Sabbath Keeping

~grasshopper on sun room window ~
"As for me, I look to the Lord for help.
I wait confidently for God to save me,
and my God will certainly hear me."

"And sure enough, even waiting will end, if you can just wait long enough."
"Waiting is a trap. there will always be reasons to wait. If you always wait for the storm, you'll never enjoy the sunshine." ~ Morris West ~
"The important work of moving the world forward, does not wait to be done by perfect men." ~ George Elliott ~
"Life isn't about waiting for the rain to end.
It's about learning how to dance in the rain."
~ unknown ~
"The opposite of talking isn't listening. The opposite of talking is waiting."
"All things come to him who waits-provide he knows what he's is waiting for."
"The great composer does not set to work because he is inspired, but becomes inspired because he is working. Beethoven, Wagner, Bach and Mozart settled down day after day to the job in hand with as much regularity as an accountant settles down each day to his figures. They didn't waste time waiting for inspiration." ~ Ernest Newman ~
"I believe that a trusting attitude and a patient attitude go hand in hand. You see, when you let go and learn to trust God, it releases joy in your life. And when you trust God, you're able to be more patient. Patience is not simply the ability to wait - it's how we behave while we're waiting."  ~ Joyce Meyer ~
"We must be willing to let go of the life we have planned, so as to have the life that is waiting for us." ~ E. M. Forster ~
"The world is full of magical things, patiently waiting for our wits to grow sharper."
"We always keep God waiting while we admit more importunate suitors."
"Dream as if you'll live forever.
Live as if you'll die today."

"Looking for that blessed hope
and that glorious appearing
of the Great God and our Savior,
Jesus Christ."

If you have someone you'd like on the prayer list, please let me know. Names are kept for one week, then, we begin again.

  4. we rarely know exactly what we are waiting for - but those who wait upon the Lord - ahhhh - He rewards the wait - I'm living proof - life is so much better than I could have imagined!

  5. I especially liked the Forster quote. We do try to plan too much ahead instead of waiting for direction. Each day can be a surprise!

  6. Hello dear Sandra! I like this quote, too.

" He makes us wait. He keeps us on purpose in the dark. He makes us walk when we want to run, sit still, when we want to walk. For He has things to do in our souls
that we are not interested in."
---Elisabeth Elliot, Secure In The Everlasting Arms---p.45

I got it from Kim's blog (Field of Dreams).
Sending love your way, good girl!

  9. I especially like the E.M. Forster quote. We sometimes hang onto what we think are great plans for our future, in effect keeping God from doing something even greater! I also like the Micah quote. (My daughter's name is Micah!) :)

  11. This is a quote theme I haven't explored myself - I could get lost for a while thinking about whether I am waiting for something, or someone, or if God or life is waiting for me. :-) Thank you for a little philosophy exercise. At least I don't have to wonder about our Blessed Hope, and that is a kind of waiting that doesn't preclude a lot of doing.
And for humor and/or conviction, the quote about the opposite of talking being waiting is a winner.

  12. Hi Gretchen, sometimes I amaze myself because it's God and some serendipity. Perhaps at different times of our lives, we're waiting for different things. As to Annie's quote, she's a smarty pants and have enjoy some of her work for years.
Thank God for His gift of Jesus!

  13. Wonderful sentences, I love to see both points: the good and strong aspects of waiting and the false, negative aspects of waiting.
