Sabbath Keeping

~ Pier, NMB, SC ~

"A wise man's heart inclines him to the right
but a fool's heart to the left."
~ Ecclesiastes 10:2

"Choose for your tribes wise,
understanding and experienced men
and I will appoint them as your heads."

"The difference between a democracy and a dictatorship is that in a democracy you vote first and take orders later; in a dictatorship, you don't have to waste time voting."
~ Charles Burkowski ~
"Democracy must be something more than two wolves and a sheep voting on what to have for dinner." ~ James Bovard ~
"As democracy is perfected, the office of president represents, more and more closely, the inner soul of the people. On some great and glorious day the plain folks of the land will reach their heart's desire at last and the White House will be adorned by a downright moron."
~ H. L. Mencken ~
"Every election is determined by the people who show up." ~ Larry Sabato ~
"Perhaps the fact that we have seen millions voting themselves into complete dependence upon a tyrant has made our generation understand that to choose one's government is not necessarily to secure freedom." ~ Friedrich August von Hayek ~
"Voting is a civil sacrament." ~ Theodore Hesburgh ~
"The best argument against democracy is a five minute conversation with the average voter."
~ Winston Churchill ~
"in my lifetime, we've gone from Eisenhower to George W. Bush. We've gone from J. F. Kennedy to Al Gore. If this is evolution, I believe that in twelve years we'll be voting for plants." ~ Lewis Black ~
"Voting is a right that has been given to every American;
however, as Christ followers, our
votes should reflect our God."
~ Monica Johnson ~
"Elections belong to the people. It's their decision. If they decide to turn their back on the fire and burn their behinds, then they will just have to sit on their blisters."
~ Abraham Lincoln ~
"Remember something, if you will, about voting: voting is not a horse race, you're not going there thinking "Gee, I gotta pick the winner so I can brag to my friends 'Oh, I picked so-and-so and he or she won." Voting is voting your heart and voting your conscience and when you've done that, don't ever, EVER let a Democrat or Republican tell you that you've wasted your vote because the fact is, if you DON'T vote your heart and conscience then you HAVE wasted your vote." ~ Jesse Ventura  ~

PLEASE vote Tuesday; it's our privilege, right and responsibility. PLEASE put aside personal opinion and views and vote as you believe God would have you vote. Our votes will have lasting, eternal consequences; on judgement day, each of us will stand before God and He's gong to ask, "WHY?" Be prepared to answer based upon your reading of Scripture and your prayers before the Lord God Almighty.

"Finally, brothers, pray for us,
that the word of the Lord may speed ahead and be honored,
as happened among you,
and that we may be delivered from wicked and evil men,
 for not all have faith."

If you'd like a name added to the prayer list, please let me know each week.

  8. Sadly I find the two wolves and a sheep quote the most appropriate now-a-days. Guess who the sheep are ?

Already sent our ballots in, but know God is truly in control. What is needed more than anything in our country is a people who love Jesus, care for Him and His word, read it and apply it to themselves in their lives. I believe the current leadership and its' apparent lack of morality is a reflection of the state of the average man in our country, and it cannot have gotten so bad ( as far as morality in politics) without many who call themselves "Christian" having cast votes in favor of politicians who endorse & enforce political practices they(voters )know the Bible prohibits. This truly comes down to a heart condition that ultimately is between each individual and God.

Again, another uplifting and encouraging Sunday post !

  9. I voted a week or so ago via early voting. AND I made sure to check how the electronic machine had recorded my votes, so no "calibration errors" on my ballot!

  10. Elections are like wrestling a pig - you end up covered in stuff you'd rather not know about! All civility seems to be abandoned and the negative ads abound - I'm voting pro life as always - seems one issue I know God is for (Life is His because He created it) so little else is clear. We do the best we can with the information available - grateful God is in charge.
Thank you for your Sabbath postings - they are always informative/beautiful

    Jane, what a lovely thought...yes!

Jody, Abe was a wise man.

Deborah, our country needs prayers as do politicians.

    Constance, I adore Churchill.

Kathy, our country needs to get back on the right track; we seem to move closer and closer to the gates of hell.

Vic, it's always best to double check.

Linda Sue, you're right but we have to vote or we can't complain.
