Time Is Flying and I've No Wings

 ~ Time, You Old Gypsy Man ~
"Time, you old gypsy man,
 Will you  not stay,
Put up your caravan
 Just for one day?

All things I'll give you
Will you be my guest,
Bells for your jennet
Of silver the best,
Goldsmiths shall beat you
A great golden ring,
Peacocks shall bow to you,
Llittle boys sing,
Oh, and sweet girls will
Festoon you with may.
Time, you old gypsy,
Why hasten away?

Last week in Babylon,
Last night in Rome,
Morning, and in the crush,
Under Paul's dome;
Under Paul's dial
You tighten your rein--
Only a moment,
And off once again;
Off to some city
Now blind in the womb,
Off to another
Ere that's in the tomb.

Time, you old gypsy man,
 Will you not stay,
Put up your caravan
 Just for one day?"

  5. We were just talking about this tonight...we received an invitation to my niece's sweet 16 birthday...I looked at my husband and said "Didn't we just see her when she was a newborn"?...where does time go? Makes me appreciate even more all the extra time we have had with my dad and yet knowing it is time to say goodbye...take care...xoxoxo

  6. Hello Sandra and Dave:
    How wonderful to be reacquainted with a poem which we have not read in years.

    Would that we could harness Time that little bit more!

  9. Yes time keeps moving - we are so much closer to Home with every breath no matter how labored, or timid, or tired - we are given the gift of right now and not to borrow on whatever is our allotment of days. Bless y'all - the prayers continue and I learn every day to say thank you for mercy and grace -
