YES to Background Checks!

Let's start here...

  1. A background check would indicate that he was born in Hawaii, attended Harvard Law School, was the editor of the Harvard Law Review and is an articulate, intelligent man.

  2. I agree!! The background check would prove (again) that he is NOT an American citizen. In fact, he's a traitor.

  3. Amen! We do need to remember that even when we get frustrated with the government and President.
    Have a warm evening.

  6. To be entirely fair, we should require a background check from every American citizen too if we want to get all ridiculous about it. Some of us really need to grow up. America is evolving and it is going to e dragged kicking and screaming into the twenty first Century no matter how much the neanderthals would like to keep it back.

  7. Ditto to what Paula wrote. I like you, Sandra, and you know that, but this type of post is why I rarely visit or comment here.

  9. Sandy, some will and some won't.

Paula, I disagree, obviously, and feel BO is a threat to the American way of life that has stood for so long. Yes, our system needs change and overhaul but I'm not a fan of socialism or any other form of government other than a democracy.

Sparky, there have been too many non-transparencies in BO's administration; he has failed the American people.

NanaNor, he was voted in and, unfortunately, we all have to pay the price.

    Debbie, you're welcome.

Robyn, he keeps preaching transparency but I see none.

    Lea, yes.

Deborah, yes, this country does need more change and one of the first needed changes is to stop name calling with those whom we disagree. I believe in freedom, in people coming to this country to have freedom; what I do not believe in are illegal aliens receiving goods and services that legal aliens and resident citizens have worked hard to obtain.

A background check for every American? Not a bad idea, how would you go about it?

Your huddled masses yearning to breathe free,

Val, the vast majority of my posts don't deal with political issues, yet it is this post you choose to comment for the first time in weeks, or longer. Tolerance, Val, isn't only for those with whom we agree; at least, it's not in my case. You and I have vastly different political opinions and like I told Yvonne less than a week ago...differing opinions are welcome here on my blog. Why? Because I am tolerant and believe in free speech even when in disagreement. Is that such a novel idea?

  11. "Val, the vast majority of my posts don't deal with political issues, yet it is this post you choose to comment for the first time in weeks, or longer."

I chose to comment on this post because it offended me, as mention of the (issue of the) President's birthplace always does, and as do the countless jokes and comments all over the internet regarding his (alleged) religious beliefs. It's all just so tiring, mentally and spiritually--especially when these kinds of things are shared by intelligent and spiritual people. Most of the time (on similar posts) , I can agree to disagree and simply comment on other parts of your posts (the farm, the animals, YOU ♥), but today I was offended and simply chose to express that.

Tolerance, belief in free speech, and love are in no short supply for me, I assure you. Most of my family, immediate and extended, and likely a solid half of my friends, both online and in-person, have political opinions that are quite different from mine. They know that if they share something like the church sign photo that you did, I'd expect them to try to back it up with facts somehow and that I would be bothered by both the lack of research and the lack of respect it showed in the first place. Where/How does "...in all things, love" fit into a post/photo/sign/insinuation like this?! It is very much a two-way street, yes.

  12. Val, you're mistaken, it's NOT a church sign...it's a VFW sign which means VETERANS OF FOREIGN WARS...those men and women who have FOUGHT on foreign soil, against enemies of this country so we can have FREE SPEECH no matter if liberal or conservative. I stand behind and beside those men and women of foreign wars, for their right to free speech even though it might offend some people. Those men and women who LOVED this country so much they fought for it, in some cases gave their lives for it, in some cases gave their physical health, their body parts and, in too many cases, their peace of mind. If ever there was a person who had a right to free speech, it's our Veterans.
    God bless them all!
If I had my way, never would a man or woman serve as President of the USA without having first serve in the military.

  13. I knew it was a VFW sign, and I know what VFW stands for, yes, thank you. I mis-typed. Whether it was a church or VFW sign has nothing to do with what I wrote in my comments, though. The "...spiritual people" I referred to was you, not those who set up the sign.

And I agree about veterans, ♥ as you likely must know from my own writings.

  14. I didn't know, Val, you knew it was a VFW sign; like Dave would tell me sometimes, "I can read your letter but I can't read your mind." It was his gentle way of reminding me language needs to be clear if we are to communicate as opposed to just talk.
But, I'm really unsure of your meaning, "spiritual people". I've never referred to myself as "spiritual" nor as "religious"; to me, those terms are non sequiters.
    What do you mean?

  15. Am I correct...you've now chosen not to follow my blog? If that's the case, I'm sorry; your company has been enjoyed. Good-bye, Val.
    God bless you and Mike.

  16. I don't remember "unfollowing" you if I was a follower. Maybe it's a Google glitch. But I'll accept the blessings and offer them back to you.

  17. I wanted to come back to this post today to apologize for the tone and wording of my first comment on it. You deserved, just as anyone would deserve, a more thought-out and articulate response than what I first wrote. And it would saved us some grief had I taken the time to compose one. I'm sorry, Sandra.

  18. Apology accepted, Val. Hope you're well.
