"They asked, and he brought them quail;

"Here with a Loaf of Bread beneath the Bough,
A Flask of Wine, a Book of Verse - and Thou
Beside me singing in the Wilderness -
And Wilderness is Paradise now."
~ Omar Khayyam ~

"Here is bread which strengthens man's heart, and is therefore called the staff of life." ~ Matthew Henry ~

"Let there be work, bread, water and salt for all."

"Truth is, I think, if God just gave us our daily bread, many of us would be angry. 'That's all you're going to give me. You're just going to give me enough to sustain me for today? What about tomorrow or next year or 10, 20, 30 years from now? I want to know that I'm set up.' And yet Jesus says just pray for your daily provisions." ~ Francis Chan ~

  3. Your quote by Chan above is, I think, one of the real keys to the Christian's life, but so few understand it. We're asked to trust God for tomorrow, all of it, and think only of today. And yet ... the same Jesus who told us to ask for bread for today only, also told us we would never hunger or thirst -- never, ever -- if we believe in him. So there's a guarantee for all the tomorrows too, which is just so odd. Thanks for all this.
