Sabbath Keeping

~ view from my front yard ~
"...But I have trusted in Your mercy;
My heart shall rejoice in Your salvation.
I will sing to the Lord,
Because He has dealt bountifully with me."
"Music was my refuge. I could crawl into the space between the notes and curl my back to loneliness." ~ Maya Angelou ~
"Life is full of misery, loneliness and suffering.
And it's all over much too soon."
"Loneliness adds beauty to life. It puts a special burn on sunsets and makes night air smell better." ~ Henry Rollins
"Pray that your loneliness may spur you
into finding something to live for,
great enough to die for."
"Language has created the word "loneliness" to express the pain of being alone. And it has created the word "solitude" to express the glory of being alone." ~ Paul Tillich ~
"Loneliness if the poverty of self;
Solitude is the richness of self.
"Loneliness and the feeling of being wanted is the most terrible poverty."
~ Mother Teresa ~
"I want to be with those who know secret things
or else alone."
"If you're lonely when you're alone, you're in bad company." ~ Jean-Paul Sarte ~
"They cannot scare me with their empty spaces
Between stars--where no human race is.
I have it in me so much nearer home
To scare myself with my own desert places.
"The only time we waste is the time we spend thinking we are alone."
~ Mitch Albom ~
"But the Counselor, the Holy Spirit,
whom the Father will send in my name,
will teach you all things,
and will remind you of everything I have said to you."

If you'd like a name added to the prayer list, please let me know. Names must be given weekly and will be kept for a week; no anonymous requests, please. Around the world, people are praying.

  2. I can feel your aloneness or loneliness. But know that the Lord is always with you in every situation.
Please put my daughter, Katie, on your prayer list, for mental, spiritual and physical healing.

    Enjoy your day!

  3. I have required chunks of solitude for so many years that I think I had forgotten that it is something I grew into, not something that I saw as a gift when I was young. All of your quotes are wonderful but oh, the sadness in Woody Allen's words compared to the certainty in the others.

  6. Loneliness is a very relevant topic. I think everybody feels alone sometimes but doesn't always know the Friend who never forsakes nor deserts us.

  8. Another wonderful collection of quotes and a great bible verse. Thank you for praying for my son Greg. He is now at home with his father in Texas and off the streets of L.A., slowly building his life back. I am very thankful.

  9. Lynne, God uses all things to teach us, when we allow.

Charlotte, we all face loneliness at various times of our lives; it's a season. Tucking Katie into prayer.

Dewena, I've always loved solitude but, sometimes, I think I impose too much on myself.

Dori, we are all kindred souls, I think.

Leigh, I think you're right, even so, there are times I'm lonely even with Jesus. You?

MB, always preaching to the choir on Sunday -smile.

Gail, I hope Greg is doing much better.
