Charlie Daniels

"I think that if anything exemplifies the overt prejudice and determination of the American media to report only the news that suits their social and political interests and concept of what does and does not fit their agenda, it's the totally overblown coverage of something Paula Deen said 20 years ago, and some party she planned that she wanted to resemble a plantation scene featuring black male waiters in period dress.

If Hollywood plans a movie featuring black waiters in a plantation scene or portray women as prostitutes or cast minorities in caricature roles does the media get upset and start calling the movie moguls racists?

Is there a grown person who could truthfully declare under oath that they have never uttered something that someone might find personally offensive?

"Let he who is without sin cast the first stone."

Do the twenty-year-old words of a lady with a television cooking show trump the lie an Attorney General told Congress, or officials at the IRS usurping the rights of the American public and pleading the fifth amendment when confronted about it or the hiding of the facts surrounding the murder of four Americans at a Consulate in Libya or the incredibly shabby image of a president taking a one hundred million dollar vacation in this economy while closing down tours of the White House or the NSA invasion on the privacy of millions of unsuspecting citizens?

I think not, and yet these and other stories of the utmost importance were either ignored or given a back seat to the Paula Deen story which, when taken in context with the high level scandals, Putin's snubbing of an American president, the potentially explosive situations in so much of the world the story was certainly not newsworthy enough to be featured five nights in a row on network news.

Wouldn't a week-long investigation into the life of Lois Lerner, the things she's done and the reason she's pleading the fifth be more meaningful to the American people?

What about what's going on in Israel? The media has been strangely quiet on that front lately, is there nothing worth reporting in that volatile part of the world?

How about the coming catastrophic tidal wave the effect of Obamacare is going to have on America, is there nothing worth questioning in the over 30,000 pages of regulations?

How about the fact that due to federal over regulation it's nearly impossible to live in the U.S. without breaking some law?

How about the Christian pastor who is being held in one of the worst hell hole prisons in the world in Iran for nothing more than sharing his faith?

How about a whole way of life that's being destroyed in West Virginia by the president's war on coal?

I think you get the picture.

No wonder the mainstream media has fallen so far in the trust of the American people.

Why is the Paula Deen story worth so much airtime if not to take attention off the truly important issue, the life changing things that really affects the lives of Americans?

The news is not about news anymore. It's about protecting some people, destroying others and shoving a socialist agenda down the collective throats of America.

What do you think?

Pray for our troops and the peace of Jerusalem.

God bless America."

  1. You know every time I read one of these columns of yours all I can think of is "Lord, have mercy". If He does not, I can't imagine where all this mess in our country will end up. Please God, help us all. Amen.

Excellent soap box! I agree - but we live in a world of yellow journalism. A long, long time ago when I was a member of the Society of Professional Journalists - when it's objectivity was its creed - I learned about yellow journalism in the school of journalism. Surprisingly, Wikipedia had the best definition I could find that resembled what I learned in the early 80s:
Frank Luther Mott (1941) defines yellow journalism in terms of five characteristics:[3]

scare headlines in huge print, often of minor news
lavish use of pictures, or imaginary drawings
use of faked interviews, misleading headlines, pseudoscience, and a parade of false learning from so-called experts
emphasis on full-color Sunday supplements, usually with comic strips
dramatic sympathy with the "underdog" against the system.

    Journalists have sold out!

  4. Right on. And if anyone else said what Paula did it would be declared the right to free speech. This country in the south in particular was different, maybe not politically correct but that was the way it was ... did we not have free speech then either? It's good that we are more aware of equality now, but let's not hold one person accountable that was the norm in the south.

  5. You must watch "TED" on TV. It stands for Technology,Entertainment,Design.
There was a talk today about corruption. Money buys power, and absolute power corrupts. I don't care one whit about Paula Deen, but I certainly care about the way our country is being sold down the river by spine-less congressmen and the president (who, for me, is the terrorist in chief).

  6. The media elects our "leaders".
The media presides over all high-profile trials and determines the outcomes.
The media verbally destroys whomever they choose, whenever they choose.
The media creates recessions and depressions and chaos and misinformation and misdirection.
With few, if any, "journalists" left with integrity and truthfulness, it is quite easy for them to lead the low-information masses to believe any thing and behave any way. What a person believes in his heart, he is. What a nation is led to believe, it becomes.

  7. I didn't even know Charlie Daniels talked that much, and I'm so glad he did! I agree with everything he said and I'm glad you posted this. Wish it'd do some good. I said that if I was Paula Deene, I'd tell em to take a flying leep and I'd never apologize. She probably wishes she hadn't now, as it only prolonged it.She could buy her own food channel.

  8. Totally agree with everything and wondered with the slamming of Paula Deen I wondered who was stealing eggs from the hen house.
You know that someone is up to something.

  11. Crushing to the spirit, crushing to the bone. Yet I know God is truly in control ...but still I am saddened by all of this. Maybe I hoped this would not come to pass in my time, but my time is God's time so may God have mercy .

Very well said. As a Southerner, I totally agree with you. I hate what the media has done to Paula. I wasn't a fan but I recognize reverse prejudice when I see it. We're lost.

  14. Sandra-- I'm just so tired of it all- such a double standard-- it's all just so sad:(

I think there is more to the story than what we are hearing so far--

  15. I agree y'all. I'm spiritually tired of it all. I'll just be glad when Jesus returns and puts a stop to our nonsense.

BTW, here's a new one quarenteed to make your head explode: the DOE (Department of Energy) wants to pass new regulations concerning ceiling fans. They plan to make it where the fans won't come on unless you're in the room. This will raise costs and put yet another chink in the armor of freedom. Source: Stuart Varney, FoxNews

  16. I never pay a lot of attention to any celebrity news! I am no more interested in Kanye and Kim and their baby then I am Paula Deen! It is shameful how she has been singled out and only because they need to keep our eyes on something else and make sure they can dumb down America because Islam is what is going to destroy us. Not the illegals sneaking over the border! I am not a fan of Communism but even Putin knows the scoop with the genetically engineered food Obama wants to shove down our throats! We have sunk to the lowest point of morality and nothing but politically correctness will take center stage. My dad always said that we need to be grateful God is in charge and not people. I am not sure how much more God will stand for. I read on a Christian website that a couple in Vermont were fined $30,000 for sharing their Christian faith with a lesbian couple! Strange as it sounded, the two lesbians were having a grand laugh because they got the money! Very odd! A different Christian site stated once this George Zimmerman verdict is in we will see terror in the streets as many people are already tweeting that they will kill a "Cracker" or a "Mexican" if he is found not guilty! So while our government steals our rights moment by moment many clueless Americans sit back and watch the lives of the Kardashians or some other godless,so called celebrity! We live in such troubling times I am fearful for our youth! Our government is running wild and no one cares!

  17. Oh my dear you hit the nail on so many heads. Sadly America has become a cult of celebrity. I think that for so many they are just struggling to get by, with higher gas prices. Higher food costs for increasingly smaller and smaller sizes and portions, that they want to forget about real life. Frankly the meda is more and more happy to oblige.

We are going down the tubes so fast and sadly so many just don't care.
Have a great week and thanks for the reminders.

  18. Annie, knowing is better than having our heads stuck in the sand. when we know, we're better able to pray.

Lil Red Hen, pray! it's all we've got.

BCM, journalists and a lot of others have sold out and, in the process, have sold us ALL out.

TL, it's only free speech if the libs are spewing their brand of vitriol.

Marsha, I'll look for TED and thanks for the suggestion.

Sheri, and we seem to act as stupid as the media treats us.

Debbie, you're so right! Paula needs to tell folks to get a life and stop bothering hers.

    Farm Girl, it's ALL misdirection!

    Debbert, it's sad and criminal!

    Susan, amen indeed!

James, Charlie is a quiet man but speaks truth when he does talk.

    Ponty, reverse racism indeed!

Vicki, it is a double standard and it's totally wrong.

Sparky, that man has got to GO before we're totally enslaved to his brand of insanity!

Anne, this isn't celebrity news; it's one sane man's attempt to make sense of insanity.

Elizabeth, it's Charlie who hit the nail on the head; he's 100% on target.
