Sabbath Keeping

~ Nomads, waiting for court, Tanjer, Morocco ~

"He whose walk is blameless and who does what is righteous, who speaks the truth from his heart and has no slander on his tongue, who does his neighbors no wrong and casts no slur on his fellowman. ...He who does these things will never be shaken." ~ Psalms 15:2-5 ~

"The real corrupters of society may be, not the corrupt, but those who have held back the righteous leaven, the salt that has lost its savor, the innocent who have not even the moral courage to show what they think of the effrontery of impurity--the serious, who yet timidly succumb before some loud-voiced scoffer--the heart trembling all over with religious sensibilities that yet suffers itself through false shame to be beaten down into outward and practical acquiescence by some rude and worldly nature."
~ J. H. Thom ~

"There are only two kinds of men:
the righteous who believe they are sinners, the sinners who believe they are righteous."

"All men's souls are immortal, but
but the souls of the righteous are immortal and divine." ~ Socrates ~

"There are slaves who fear to speak
For the fallen and the weak,
They are slaves who will not choose
Hatred, scoffing, and abuse,
Rather than in silence shrink
From the truth they needs must think;
They are slaves who dare not be
In the right with two or three."

"We don't need to go very far in any given day to find a need, hear a request, face an enemy, or encounter a situation that calls for a righteous application of our God-given power as women."
~ Jan Dartagz ~

"If you see oppression of the poor, and justice and righteousness trampled in a country, do not be astounded." ~ King Solomon ~

"All over the world this gospel is bearing fruit and growing, just as it has been doing among you since the day you heard it and understood God's grace in all its truth." ~ Colossians 1:6 ~

Blessings ~ righteous men and women after the heart of God ~ You, beloved ~ justice ~

  1. I hate to admit it, Sandra, but I am the one person that JH Thom and JR Lowell speaks of that does not stand up for injustices. I am too ready to back down from others even if those others are totally in the wrong. I regret to say that I am very timid, and usually don't even stand up for myself, so I have resigned myself to a life spent mostly alone, or in the safe confines of corresponding with people/women on these blogs, where I can learn, but I am not judged by how I look or for what I choose to do with my life - they are like-minded people with myself. I tend to play it safe in life. 8-( Hope you have a great Sabbath Sunday - thanks for your choice of quotes today. Take care, from KY.

  2. i love the photo of the nomads!

the verse from psalms was very
    convicting, since i frequently
    transgress it.

thank you for your sweet sabbath
    posts.

Wanted to pop in for a visit and will email you ady.

Thanks so much for your offer to help. Homelessness is a big problem, we just can't have too many helping hands.

  5. Pascal's quote spoke most to me, but of course, all your quotes are just right. Is there more you can tell about your picture? Court in Morocco, seems a fearful thing to me.

All too often I have found myself in hot water for speaking boldly. People do not like this and I am becoming a lot more quiet about such things in my older age, and maybe learning to temper truth with a bit of sugar,as Mary Poppins said, "just a spoonful of sugar helps the medicine go down.." I hope.

  6. Wonderful words - there is definitely no shortage of needs if one opens eyes and heart. My prayer this morning was to deepen my understanding of what the Father is telling me through the Spirit. So much chatter in my head - and I think it keeps me from hearing His voice. Morocco has such an exotic sound -
